How were the blocks transported from quarries to the construction site of the Giza Pyramids?

The Giza Pyramids are located quite far from the ancient quarries. However, the massive blocks used for construction did not have to be dragged over long distances. Scientists studying the sediments of the Nile discovered that during the era of the Pharaohs of the Old Kingdom, one of the branches of the Nile, which has since dried up, flowed near the Pyramids.

Water from this branch flowed into an artificial basin, allowing the stones to be transported directly to the construction site on boats.

This method significantly eased the transportation process, utilizing the natural waterway to move the heavy blocks efficiently. The use of boats on the Nile branch and the artificial basin demonstrates the advanced engineering skills and resourcefulness of the ancient Egyptians in overcoming logistical challenges during the pyramid construction.
