According to the Sixth Amendment to the United States Constitution, the accused has the right to a trial by an impartial jury of the state and district where the crime was committed. The judicial district of Wyoming includes the entire state as well as parts of Yellowstone National Park that extend into Montana and Idaho.
Due to the lack of residents in the Idaho portion of the park, a peculiar situation arises: if a crime were committed there, it would be impossible to conduct a trial by jury strictly following the Sixth Amendment, as there would be no one to serve as jurors. Several books and films have plots centered around crimes committed in this area, although such an incident has not occurred in reality yet.
