1. Biography of the Singer
Tatyana’s mother, Svetlana, and father, Grigory, were working in Magadan Oblast, where their future star was born. Both parents were engineers and had no connection to the arts. Tina Karol has an older brother, Stanislav.
In 1992, the family returned to Ukraine and settled in Ivano-Frankivsk, where Tina’s mother was from. The children were raised with strictness, taught discipline and hard work. Tanya successfully entered a music school, where she played the piano, sang, and danced well. She especially enjoyed participating in school performances and realized from a young age that she wanted to be on stage.
After finishing 9th grade, Tatyana moved to Kyiv and passed exams at the Glière Higher Music College. Her teachers spoke highly of her, noting her amazing voice and unique style.
In 2003, thanks to Alexander Zlotnik, a well-known composer, Tina Karol was cast in the lead role in the musical “Equator,” marking the beginning of her rise to fame.
Two years later, she was recommended to audition for the Ukrainian Song and Dance Ensemble of the Armed Forces. Understanding the importance of this stage for her career, she did everything to impress the jury with her talent. She became a soloist and graduated from the National Aviation University by correspondence, although her managerial diploma was never used.
Tina Karol gained immense success and real fame after the “New Wave” festival in 2005, where she won second place and was awarded the special “Alla” prize of $50,000. This amount was used to shoot the video for her song “Above the Clouds.”
Tatyana performed for international contingents in Iraq and Kosovo and was awarded the “For Peacekeeping Missions” order. In the same year, she received national awards for “Breakthrough of the Year” and “Singer of the Year.”
Her first album, “Show Me Your Love” (2006), was in English, and many singles quickly became hits. With the title track, the vocalist participated in Eurovision (Athens, Greece), where she took 7th place.
Since 2006, Tina has regularly appeared on television as a host (“Dancing with the Stars,” “Maidan’s,” etc.) while continuing to release albums. For some time, the charismatic beauty was in a relationship with Dmitry Tubolcev, one of the directors of the musical “Equator.” The couple lived together for about three years but did not marry. Her partner was unfaithful, including with Svetlana Loboda.
In 2008, Tina married her then-producer, Yevgeny Ogir. The romantic ceremony took place first in the Maldives, and then they had a church wedding at the Assumption Cathedral. In the fall of the same year, their only son, Benjamin, was born.
Tina met her partner during a difficult time in her life when she was at odds with her former producer, Oleg Cherny, and needed support. Later, the star spoke of love at first sight.
Six years later, Yevgeny died from stomach cancer, and Tina struggled to cope with this blow. She found it hard to return to the stage, but she did so for her son and late husband, dedicating her tour to his memory.
Despite the years since Yevgeny’s death, the grieving widow still keeps his belongings with great care. There are constant rumors in the press about Tina’s romances with choreographer Vasily Kozarev, Belarusian actor Kirill Dytsevich, or singer Dan Balan, but the star herself claims her heart is still free.
